The Sauternes vineyard is located to the south of Bordeaux. Since Roman times, the grapes have begun to be used to produce prestigious wines that today have a worldwide reputation.

This AOC includes five communes: Barsac, Bommes, Fargues, Preignac, and Sauternes, located on the left bank of the Garonne. The most famous domain is Château d’Yquem.
